Iran blasts west’s multi-billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia
Tehran, Senior Assistant to Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari blasted the western countries for continuing their sale of weapons and ammunition to Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries that are waging war against Yemen.
Jaberi Ansari made the remarks in a meeting with ambassadors from France, Britain, Italy as well as German charge d'affairs (in the absence of German ambassador) on deplorable status of people in Yemen and cooperation between Iran and the European countries to lessen their sufferings.
The crisis in Yemen has no military solution and its problems should be resolved through dialogue and political agreement among different parties, he said.
Military coalition which has targeted Yemen is to pursue the failed policy, but the policy will only bring more destruction and carnage, Jaberi Ansari said.
He expressed the hope that the European countries would persuade Saudi Arabia and its allies to pursue their interests through peaceful means.
European ambassadors in the meeting, for their part, expressed concern over deplorable humanitarian situation in Yemen, and called the issue to be resolved through political means, Ansari said.
