Iran condemns assassination attempt on Zimbabwe President

Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi condemned assassination attempt against Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa during an election rally in Bulawayo City.

Qasemi expressed hope that the election in Zimbabwe would held peacefully through people's unity, solidarity and vigilance.

He also rejected adoption of hostile approach in following political goals.

He also wished immediate recovery for those who were injured and sympathized with victims of the accident.

According to Zimbabwe media 'Herald Newspaper' at least eight people including Vice President Kembo Mohadi and Zanu-PF national chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri were injured following an explosion at White City Sports Stadium where President Mnangagwa was addressing a rally.
