Iran condemns Saudi attack on Hajjah
Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman slammed the Saudi Arabia air strike on Hajjah, Yemen which resulted in killing and injuring of scores of innocent people
Bahram Qasemi sympathized with the families of victims of the deadly attack.
Escalation of bombardment on residential areas indicates desperation and failure of aggressors, he said.
He described military support of some Western countries for Saudi Arabia as irresponsible, saying strikes on houses and non-military targets and also preventing international bodies to have access for rescue operations is violation of humanitarian rules and principles.
Qasemi also urged the United Nations and the influential countries to step up their attempts to stop attacks urgently and to adopt necessary decisions to protect civilians' health and security.
Saudi Arabia and its regional allies attacked Yemen in March 2015 to bring back to power the deposed president of Yemen Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.
Thousands of Yemenis have been killed in the attacks by the Saudi-US coalition and more than 2,000 have died due to a cholera epidemic.
