Iran condemns suicide attack in Herat, Afghanistan

Tehran, Aug 2, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi Wednesday slammed the suicide terrorist attack in Herat, Afghanistan which claimed the lives of 20 people and injured 50 others.

It is time for the regional countries and international bodies to try their best to stand by Afghan people and government to put an end to violence, Qasemi said.

Two suicide terrorists broke into a mosque in Herat on Tuesday night, then one of them started shooting at worshipers and the other terrorist detonated himself inside the mosque, Herat police reported.

People of Herat have experienced suicide attacks and explosions in Shia mosques since the beginning of the current year.

No group has yet claimed the responsibility for the deadly incident.
