Bastille Day is the anniversary of storming the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789. The day, a turning point of the French Revolution, is celebrated in France as the country’s Nationals Day.
The medieval fortress, armory, and political prison in Paris known as the Bastille was the symbol of France’s absolute monarchy’s abuses of power.
