Iran director Javidi selected for Tbilisi festival jury
Tehran, - Iran screenwriter-cum-director Nima Javidi was chosen as a member of the panel of jury for the 19th Tbilisi International Film Festival in Georgia.
Javidi will be joined on the panel by Archil Kikodze, Kanako Hayashi, Celine Nusse, Raimundas Banionis to judge the films in the international competition section, IRNA reported.
Born in 1980, Javidi began his filmmaking career with a short film titled 'Marathon Champion' (2000). His first feature 'Melbourne' (2014) which was the opening film in critics' week at Venice film festival (2014) has taken part in over 60 international festivals.
The flick has so far grabbed 14 awards, including the Best Film award at the 2014 Cairo Film Festival in Egypt and Best Script award at the 2014 Stockholm Film Festival in Sweden, Best Script in Asia Pacific Awards (2014), Best Director, Best Script and Best Young Jury awards at Gijon Film Festival (2014).
Javidi is a member of Asia Pacific Academy Awards and served on the panel of jury at the 54th Gijon Film Festival in Spain.
His latest movie 'The Warden', that recently completed its editing stage, has signed up to participate in the 37th Fajr Film Festival in Iran.
Launched in 2000, the Tbilisi International Film Festival aims to introduce new works of high quality to the Georgian public and to the world.
The latest edition of the festival will be wrapped up on December 9.
