Iran dominating men’s wrestling in Asian Games
Tehran, Iran dominated men's freestyle wrestling at the 2018 Asian Games with three gold medals on the second day of the competition at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Assembly Hall in Jakarta, wrote the Games official website.
Three champions have emerged from among Iran's wrestlers: Hassan Yazdanicharati (86 kg), Alireza Kariminachiani (97 kg) and Parviz Hadibasmanj (125 kg).
Iran grabbed its first two gold medals on the first day of the wrestling competition on Sunday, and claimed its third gold on Monday.
Reza Atrinagharchi also won a bronze medal for Iran in the 57 kg class.
Iran's opportunity to collect more gold medals is wide open, as six categories in Greco-Roman wrestling remain to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday. North Korea and Mongolia are following Iran.
Tuesday will see athletes vie for four gold medals, four silvers and eight bronzes in the 68 kg and 76 kg categories of women's freestyle wrestling and in the 60 kg and 67 kg classes of men's Greco-Roman wrestling.
On the final day of the competition on Wednesday, wrestlers will compete in the men's Greco-Roman event in the 77 kg, 87 kg, 97 kg and 130 kg categories.
