Iran envoy to Pakistan meets Afghan counterpart, discusses bilateral ties
Islamabad Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost on Wednesday met with his Afghan counterpart in Islamabad to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.
Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal in his tweet message said that during the meeting issues of bilateral interest and importance, including peace efforts and other related developments came under discussion.
Iran and Afghanistan as neighbors enjoy strong bilateral ties. Iran is also hosting bulk of Afghan refugees for last many years.
Afghanistan is using Iran's Bandar Abbas and Chabahar ports for cargo traffic which shows stronger trade ties between the two countries.
Iran supports peace efforts in Afghanistan and strongly believes that presence of foreign forces in the country is the main reason behind the instability in the region.
