Iran envoy urges US to comply with JCPOA
Tehran Iranian envoy to France urged US to comply with its international commitments including the Iran nuclear agreement.
'The Iran nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is an international agreement and we have different plans for any condition,' Abulqasem Delfi said Friday in an interview with Radio France (RFI) responding a question on US President Donald Trump's possible decision on walking away from the agreement.
He referred to EU3+1 meeting in Brussels on Thursday and also French President Emmanuel Macron's phone conversation with Trump, and called for Europe to try harder over removing barriers in economic cooperation between Iranian and European firms.
Elaborating on Iran's stance regarding the JCPOA, Delfi said Iran's approach would be fulfilling national interests and the privileges which Iran should take advantage.
Commenting on a question regarding recent unrests in Iran, he said Iranians' peaceful protests over economic problems inside the country turned out to violence by the intervention of foreigners especially the United States.
'Iranian government also emphasized peaceful protests under the Islamic Republic's laws,' Delfi added.
The US administration has tried to kill the Iran nuclear deal. Although the International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed Iran's commitment to the deal eight times, the US president didn't confirm Iran's commitment and sent the deal to the Congress to be decided on.
