Iran female karate fighters bag 2 bronze medals

Tehran, Iranian female karatekas received two bronze medals in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

The karate competitions started in Buenos Aires on Wednesday.

Fatemeh Khonakdar and Mobina Heidari snatched two bronze medals.

Khonakdar in the weight category of 35 kilogram defeated Portugal, Thailand to advance to semi-final match.

In her third match, she was overpowered by Japanese rival.

In semi-final match, she was hit by Egypt and received a bronze medal.

In -59kg weight category, Heidari defeated the UK and French rival but she was overshined by Russian fighter.

In semi-final match, she tied with Japanese rival and grabbed a bronze medal.

The third Summer Youth Olympic Games, also called Buenos Aires 2018, is underway in the Argentine capital from October 6 to October 18 with 4,000 athletes, aged 15-18, from 206 countries and areas competing in 32 fields.
