Iran FM departs Damascus for Iran

Damascus, IRNA – Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian left the Syrian capital for Tehran on Sunday.

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad bid farewell to Amirabdollahian and his entourage.

As the last part of his trip to Damascus, the Iranian foreign minister visited the holy shrines of Hazrat Zaynab and Hazrat Ruqayyah.

During his two-day visit to Damascus, Amirabdollahian met with President Bashar al-Assad, Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, National Security Adviser Ali Mamlouk and Damascus-based Palestinian leaders.

The Iranian diplomat had earlier visited Beirut where he met with top Lebanese officials and Hizbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah.
