Iran FM lauds Omani, Iraqi counterparts’ efforts to free Iranian Hajj pilgrim

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in a phone call with his Omani counterpart thanked the efforts made by the foreign ministers of Iraq and Oman in pursuing the release of the Iranian Hajj pilgrim arrested in Saudi Arabia and expressed hope for his return to Iran soon.

In his phone call with Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Amirabdollahian discussed the latest bilateral and regional developments.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments regarding negotiations on lifting sanctions.

Khalil Dardmand, an Iranian Hajj pilgrim, has been arrested by agents of Saudi Arabia during this year’s Hajj rituals, and the efforts of the diplomatic and judicial authorities to free him are still underway due to the severed political relations between Tehran and Riyadh through intermediary countries.
