Iran handmade carpet exhibition kicks off in Tehran
Tehran, The 27th Iran Handmade Carpet Exhibition opened on Saturday in the Iranian capital with the attendance of Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari.
The exhibition, participated by 670 Iranian entities involved in production and export of carpets, is the biggest of its kind in the world.
The exhibition showcases different types of carpets, rugs and pictorial carpets.
We should develop a new theme in Iran's hand-woven carpet industry in line with social and global changes in politics and economics, said Head of Iran National Carpet Center, Fereshteh Dastpak, addressing the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
Iran National Carpet Center has aimed at promoting genuine Persian carpet in the world by reinforcing private sector, increasing productivity, qualitative and quantitative developments via improving education and penetrating in the new markets and developing existing markets, she added
Developing electronic trading, emerging business and geographical branding are among the goals of this center, she stressed.
Meantime, on the sidelines of the event, Shariatmadari unveiled the 'Peace and friendship' carpet originally made by the Iranian artists to be presented as a gift to the United Nations.
The 27th Iran Handmade Carpet Exhibition will be underway at Tehran International Permanent Fairground on August 25-31.
