Iran initiating banking, financial diplomacy in region
Tehran, IRNA – Mohammad-Reza Farzin, governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), has kicked off a regional tour to develop banking and financial cooperation with the Arab littoral states of the Persian Gulf.
Farzin, heading a specialized delegation, arrived in the Qatari capital of Doha to pursue the increase of monetary transactions and banking collaborations between Qatar and Iran.
The CBI governor met with his Qatari counterpart Abdulla bin Saoud Al Thani on Thursday.
Al Thani said that the expansion of banking interactions with the Islamic Republic of Iran is among Doha’s main priorities, noting that the cooperation will be definitely in favor of both sides.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari accompanies Farzin in the regional tour.
The CBI puts the expansion of financial and banking interactions with the littoral states of the Persian Gulf region on agenda.
The visit by the Iranian delegation to Qatar and the meeting between the governors of the central banks of both countries are a sort of starting point for specialized negotiations to increase banking and financial cooperation.
