Iran-Iraq defense commission to convene: Iranian minister
Tehran, Iran's Minister of Defense said on Wednesday that the first session of Iran-Iraq defense commission will be held.
Upon arrival at Baghdad airport, Brigadier General Amir Hatami told reporters that one of the goals of his two-day visit to Iraq is to consult with Iraqi officials on the latest developments in the region.
'Enhancing defense and military cooperation between Iran and Iraq is another goal of the visit,' he said.
In addition to Iraqi Defense Minister Erfan al-Hiyali, the Iranian General will also hold talks with other ministers and defense, security and military officials of Iraq.
Condemning the recent missile attack on Syria by the US and its European allies, he said that the 'criminal act' was a blatant violation of international laws and the United Nations Charter.
The minister on the second day of his visit will take part in a quadrilateral meeting of Iran, Iraq, Russia and Syria.
General Hatami arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday morning and was welcomed by Secretary General of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense Lieutenant General Mohammad Jawad Kazim.
