Iran joins two world countries odorizing natural gas

Tehran, Iran has recently achieved a technology to odorize natural gas.

The technology has already been mainly monopolized by two world countries, and now Iran could have access to it to strengthen its foothold in the global energy market.

At present, Iran is self-sufficient in providing 95 percent of equipment needed for the country's gas industry.

These days, Iran having the world's largest gas reserves is busy with developing its gas industry mindless of foreign pressures.

Iran by relying on development of phases of South Pars, the world's largest gas field in the Persian Gulf in south of the country, has raised its gas production to 850 million cubic meters per day.

And the gas production in the South Pars gas field will reach 1.2 billion cubic meters in a day after all of its phases are launched.

Odorant is being used in all oil and gas refineries to make the natural gas smell.

Having attained the technology to develop odorant, Iran can cut its imports, thus saving foreign exchange and preparing the ground for the exports.
