Iran karate team wins Int’l Solidarity and Friendship Champs

Orumiyeh, Iranian karate squad ranked 1st at 14th International Solidarity and Friendship Karate Male Championship held in northwestern city of Orumiyeh (Urmia).

Iran snatched 10 gold, 15 silver and 23 bronze medals.

Turkey with 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals finished runner-up and Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan receiving 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals ranked third.

In youth category, Turkey with 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals ranked first, Iran stood on the second place and Kazakhstan ranked third.

The event was held with the attendance of 300 karatekas from Iran, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, the Netherlands, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Malaysia, India, Turkey and the US.

Presidents of federations of France, Turkey, Azerbaijan and heads of Belgium, Denmark and Norway referee commissions have also attended the event as especial guests.

Earlier President of the World Karate Federation referee committee Javier Escalante announced that forty international referees from 10 countries officiated the 14th International Solidarity and Friendship Karate Male.
