Iran, Lebanon Parliament speakers discuss enhanced cooperation

Tehran, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri explored ways to promote cooperation on Sunday.

Iran, Lebanon Parliament speakers discuss enhanced cooperation

The two officials were meeting on the sidelines of an International Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in Doha, Qatar.

The meeting was held in Berri's residence in Doha, according to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA).

During the meeting, in which the Lebanese ambassador to Qatar Hassan Najm was also present, the two speakers also reviewed the latest regional developments as well as issues of bilateral importance.

Addressing the IPU meeting, the Lebanese speaker underlined the significance of unity among Arab and Muslim nations about a proposal in support for Palestinian nation and opposition to recognizing annexation of Golan Heights to the Zionist regime.

Kuwait and Morocco proposed that support for the Palestinians and rejecting the annexation of Golan Heights be on the agenda of the IPU meeting.

The 140th IPU meeting opened in the Qatari capital on Saturday.
