Iran: Military ties help restore peace in Caspian Sea
Baku, Commodore Shahram Habibi, the commander of the Iranian military delegation sent to Sea Cup-2018 in Azerbaijan waters in the Caspian Sea, said on Tuesday that military relations can help boost political relations and bolster peace and friendship among Caspian Sea littoral states.
Habibi made the remarks during a joint press conference with his counterparts from Azerbaijan Republic, Russia and Kazakhstan hours before the competitions began.
The commander of the Azeri delegation, for his part, said that the main goal of holding this event is further strengthening peace and friendship among Caspian Sea littoral states.
Sea Cup-2018 begins on July 31 for 10 days with participation of vessels and missile-launching warships from Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan Republic.
Peykan and Joshan missile-launching warships from Iranian Army docked at Baku coastlines last Wednesday to participate in the event.
Shooting surface and air targets, destroying mines, controlling damages, and rescue and relief operations at sea are among the fields in which the participating delegations will compete.
