Iran never quits missile power: Senior cleric

Tehran, Iran will not retreat even an inch from its missile power, Tehran's Friday Prayers Leader said.

Addressing a big crowd of prayers at University of Tehran, Ahmad Khatami said, 'The US, the European Union, and the entire world should know that Islamic Republic of Iran will not retreat even an inch from its red lines, including the missile capability.'

Echoing the recent remarks by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the cleric said, 'Negotiation with the EU is permitted but we never link our economy and politics to them, rather we trust in God and our people's capabilities.'

The Supreme Leader in his recent meeting with the cabinet said, 'It is fine to establish ties, continue negotiations with Europe; however, you should stop having hopes in them on the issues like the JCPOA or economic matters. You should strictly watch over the process of dealing with the matters, approaching their promises with wariness.'

Our policy is to have fraternal ties with our neighbors, and if they reciprocate the policy, they will certainly be treated in the best way, he said.
