Iran not to negotiate with ‘rogue state’ US: Zarif

Tehran, Iran will not negotiate with the United States that fails to keep its word and moves to sabotage multilateral agreements one after another, said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The United States is turning into a 'rogue state' by repeatedly violating international law, and Iran will not negotiate with such a state, Zarif said on Thursday in response to the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's recent call for renegotiations on Iran's 2015 international nuclear agreement, according to Xinhua.

'The US withdrawal from some international agreements and undermining others, coupled with efforts to weaken international organizations, are examples of destructive moves so far by the US government, which have unfortunately darkened the outlook for the international order,' Zarif said.

'Obviously, the continuation of such policies can endanger the stability of the international community, turning the United States into a rogue state and an international outlaw,' he said.

On May 21, Pompeo chastised Iran for its nuclear and missile programs, vowing to impose on Tehran the toughest sanctions in history if it does not change course.

Defending the US withdrawal from the historic Iran nuclear deal, Pompeo said Iran must report to the International Atomic Energy Agency about its nuclear program, end the proliferation of its missiles, and stop supporting 'terrorist groups' in the Middle East.

Iran's Foreign Ministry rejected Pompeo's threatening remarks as 'absurd and interventionist' and appealed to the EU allies of the United States to protect the deal.

Other Chinese media wrote that the Zionist regime is the only atomic arsenal in the Middle East; the US has no problem with that but has opposed Iran's peaceful nuclear program and violated Iran Deal.

They also wrote that US's violating various international treaties is de facto a danger to international relations; now it is the EU's turn to support Iran Deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan od Action (JCPOA).

The Chinese media also denied the rumor that Iran is to test missiles with a range of more than 2,000 km.
