Iran, Oman to broaden media ties
Tehran, Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency Ziya Hashemi said on Wednesday that media cooperation between Iran and Oman help broaden level of relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The IRNA chief made the remarks in a meeting with Manager of Omani News Agency (ONA) Amer Al Kalbani who attended the 43th meeting of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Tehran on Monday.
The Iranian people attach importance to broadening ties with the Omani people and the two sides media should help bolster such historical affinity, he said.
In recent years, foreigners have tried to adopt provocative measures in order to sow seeds of discords among Muslim nations, neighboring and Arab countries but their efforts have left no impact on the people of Oman, Hashemi said.
It is very important for Iran to have its voice echoed in Oman and that is why Oman was invited as a special guest to the conference, he said.
Amer Al Kalbani, for his part, lauded Iran's hospitality and successful hosting of OANA meeting in line with global media standards.
'We have always used IRNA experiences and believe that Oman should broaden all-out relations and cooperation with Iran, 'he said.
The 43th meeting of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) was addressed Monday by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi and IRNA managing director Seyyed Zia Hashemi. Senior executives of the member news agencies, representatives of Iranian newspapers, IRIB, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other organizations, and some MPs participated in the meeting.
