Iran presidential aide elaborates on Trump’s ‘no preconditions’
Tehran, Head of the Center for Strategic Studies of President Office Hesameddin Ashena in a Twitter message on Wednesday elaborated on president Trump's no preconditions claims.
US President Donald Trump has recently offered talks with Tehran without preconditions.
'I would certainly meet with Iran if they wanted to meet,' Trump was quoted by CNN as saying.
'I do believe that they will probably end up wanting to meet. I'm ready to meet whenever they want to,' he added.
'Let us first see if President Trump and his Secretary of State can even agree on the definition of no preconditions, Ashena said.
No preconditions means No enforcement of illegal sanctions, he added.
President Hassan Rouhani's advisor went on to emphasize the contradiction between imposition of sanctions and offering dialogue.
'Sanctions and dialogue are contradictory,' he said.
Iranian officials rejected Trump's offer of talks saying they saw no value in talking to the United States after it pulled out of the nuclear deal agreed between Tehran and six major powers in 2015.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message reacting to Trump said' Iran & US had 2 yrs of talks. With EU/E3+Russia+China, we produced a unique multilateral accordthe JCPOA. It's been working. US can only blame itself for pulling out & leaving the table. Threats, sanctions & PR stunts won't work. Try respect: for Iranians & for int'l commitments.'
