Iran president’s tone to bring Tehran, Riyadh closer: Pak daily
Islamabad, - The recent statement by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in which he called the Saudis as brothers, was a major step in bringing closer the two important countries of the Islamic world, a leading Pakistani Urdu-language daily wrote on Monday.
The daily Nawa-e-waqt in its editorial comments said President Rouhani addressing a three-day 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran stated that Iran is prepared to defend Saudi Arabia from terrorism and superpowers and the people of Mecca and Medina are Iran's brothers.
The views expressed by President Rouhani about Saudi Arabia have given a hope to end tensions between the two countries, the paper said.
It said that actually Iranian President has correctly said that the Zionist regime is a cancerous tumor established by Western countries to advance their interests in the Middle East.
It went on to say that the US and Europe had fought world wars on Jewish loans. It added that the Zionists have taken full advantage of poor situation of the Muslims around the world.
Nawa-e-waqt said that all Muslim countries, including Iran and Saudi Arabia have the same views regarding the Zionist regime.
The Urdu-language daily added that unfortunately the resources of the Muslims which are supposed to be used against the Zionist regime of Israel are being wasted in wars like Yemen.
The paper was of the view that being Muslim nations, Iran and Saudi Arabia are like brothers. It added the statement of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani calling Saudis as brothers is a major step in bringing the two important countries of the Islamic world closer.
The editorial said that now it is the responsibility of the powerful Muslim countries to come forward and take practical steps for unity in the Islamic world.
It noted that all Muslims have to realize that a nuclear-capable Zionist regime is a threat for the whole Muslim world.
