Iran ranks second in world engineering graduates
Bojnourd, Iran has the highest number of engineering graduates in the world after Russia, said the country's Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology for Education Affairs.
Mojtaba Shariati Niasar, during a visit to a higher education center in the city of Shirvan in North Khorasan on Tuesday, said that each year over 5,000 students graduate in the field of engineering sciences in Iran, which is almost the same number of graduates in the field in the United States.
Referring to the number of Iran's higher education centers which is equal to or greater than those in China, he added that in these centers due attention should be paid to the required standards such as land per capita, educational infrastructure, the number of faculty members as well as fields of study.
Shariati Niasar said that in order to enhance educational status a general regional approach rather than a local ethnic one should be taken.
