Iran ready to help Turkey put off forest fires

Tehran – IRNA – An official in Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics said that Iran is ready to help Turkish Government in putting off the large-scale forest fires in southern Turkish provinces.

Mohammad Nouri Aal Agha said on Friday that following the order of Brigadier General Amir Hatami, The Minister of Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, several helicopters and a firefighting plane were used to carry out firefighting operations in Turkey.

This humanitarian operation will start as soon as the necessary coordination is being done, he added.

Turkey’s Mediterranean region is battling multiple wildfires in three provinces, which started on Wednesday.  At least three people have been killed in southern Turkey as two forest fires rage near tourist coastal regions.

Dozens of others were also hospitalized with burns after flames ravaged houses in the Kalemler district.

A wildfire that broke out Wednesday near the Mediterranean town of Manavgat, in Antalya province, had largely been contained.
