Iran ready to return to higher level than pre- JCPOA status
Tehran, Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said on Tuesday that if the Europeans do not provide guarantee, Iran is prepared to return to higher levels than pre-JCPOA situation
Pointing to Tuesday's joint meeting with Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, he added that non-confidence will constitute the basis of talks with the Europeans.
Salehi said he showed up in Majlis today to brief the MPs about his organization's facilities to take action based on the decisions the senior officials are to take according to the situation.
The preparedness is real and factual, he said, hoping that there would be no need to return to previous conditions.
We will never push the talks with the Europeans on the basis of confidence and that's not the case that we negotiate with them with optimism, he said.
As the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has stressed necessary guarantees should be taken, Slehi said, noting that Iran is capable of returning not only to pre-deal situation but also to higher levels than that.
Hoping that the Europeans would compensate US exit from the JCPOA and fulfill their commitments, Salehi said that if definite guarantees are provided, there is no need for getting back to pre-deal situation.
