Iran rejects ‘hollow, worthless’ allegations of Saudi envoy to US
Iran has rejected "hollow and worthless" claims made by the Saudi ambassador to the United States, saying such allegations are "too ludicrous" to merit a response.
Saudi Arabia and its rookie ambassador cannot count on "desperate efforts" launched by certain anti-Iran centers aimed at undermining the internal coherence and unity among the Iranian administration, people and officials, Iran's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
It added that the Iranian nation knows its committed, devoted and patriotic officials well and would attach no significance to such foolish and amateurish allegations and lies as well as outdated methods designed by their so-called think tanks and propagated by certain anti-Iran media outlets.
In an article published by London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper on Tuesday, Saudi Ambassador to the United States Prince Khalid bin Salman claimed that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif desperately attempts to present a moderate face outside his country."
Back in April, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi rejected Saudi officials' anti-Iran remarks, saying that Riyadh could not conceal its dark record of harboring extremism and supporting terrorism by playing a blame game.
Those who have put the name of their country on the list of aggressors and criminals and have been put at the same level with other aggressors and dictators like [former Iraqi dictator] Saddam [Hussein] should know that they cannot turn a blind eye to realities by raising baseless and groundless allegations against Iran, Qassemi said.
