Iran rejects US anti-Iran claims as ridiculous blame game
Tehran, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Friday that American officials resort to repeated, ridiculous and suspicious blame games to rid themselves of the consequences of their heinous and amateur acts.
Qasemi made the remarks in reaction to claims by his US counterpart who has held Iran responsible for attacks on US centers in Iraq.
Heather Nauert has said that in case of any threat against US citizens in Iraq, the United States will hold Iran responsible.
Qasemi said that the US claims against Iran come few days after an attack on Iranian consulate in Basra by US-led groups seeking to mar Tehran-Baghdad relations in a complicated plan amid the election of new government in Iraq.
Referring to Iran's constructive role in the fight against terrorism in Iraq, the spokesman said, This time, I have no other alternative but to somehow agree with the recent remarks by Mr. Trump who said the United States made a strategic mistake with its illegitimate entry into this region over the past decades.
There is an Iranian proverb saying old habits die hard, the official said. However he said that it is more useful for the Americans to abandon their habits about Iran and the Iranians.
