Iran-Russia cooperation lessens West sanctions’ impact
Moscow, The cooperation between Iran and Russia will reduce the influence of the West sanctions on both countries, Member of the Russian NGO Talysh Diaspora Ismail Shabanov said.
Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday, Shabanov said while the US and its allies sanctioned Iran and Russia, it is time for developing cooperation.
Referring to the fact that Iran and Russia have promoted the structure of the economic and commercial cooperation, he said both countries can have more cooperation in industrial, scientific, technology and agricultural fields.
The United States is about to expand the scope of sanctions against Iran and Russia, and the focus should be on confronting these sanctions, which are outside the Security Council framework.
Iran and Russia are enjoying big capacities and can take advantage of their experiences against sanctions, Shabanov said.
He pointed to Russia progress in banking and credit fields which can be useful for Iran.
Iran has also gained valuable experiences in sanction time which will be of importance for Russia, he added.
The US influence in the international arena has fallen and is not comparable to decades ago, he said adding that Donald Trump is responsible for this issue because many countries, and even its allies like Canada have been angry with the US actions.
The fact that Europe does not cooperate with the United States on important issues such as Iran nuclear program is an important sign for Washington and its regional policies, Shabanov said.
In this context, the ground will be prepared for the development of new powers in the world, including Russia, China, Iran, the European Union, Brazil and some other countries, and the world gradually moves from a monopolar system to a multipolar one, he added.
