Iran, Russia discuss civil rights cooperation
Moscow Head of Inspection Organization of Iran met with High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation on Wednesday.
The Iranian official, Qazi Seraj, who is visiting Moscow to participate in an international forum on human rights in Eurasia and sharing experiences of ombudsmen, met with Russia's chief ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova.
They discussed bilateral as well as international cooperation on protecting civil rights.
Ombudsman is defined in Merriam-Webster dictionary as a government official appointed to receive and investigate complaints made by individuals against abuses or capricious acts of public officials.
Seraj on Tuesday signed the memorandum of understanding of establishing Eurasia's association of ombudsmen in cooperation with two other countries in Moscow.
He expressed hope that the association will lay grounds for boosting cooperation on handling people's complaints, independent of foreigners and the West.
