Iran sends condolence message over Algerian plane crash

Tehran, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani extended his condolences to his Algerian counterpart Abdelaziz Bouteflika over the plane crash that claimed the lives of more than 250 people.

President Rouhani on Friday expressed his sadness over the tragic crash of a military transport plane and sympathized with the relatives of the victims.

The crash took place on Wednesday near Boufarik military base, 25 kilometers to the south of Algiers. 257 people were killed in the incident, including 10 crew members.

Following the crash, President Bouteflika announced a three-day national mourning on Wednesday.

The accident is considered the worst air disaster of Algeria.
