Iran slams putting Cuba’s name on list of states supporting terrorism
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh on Tuesday strongly condemned the US’ measure to put Cuba on the list of countries supporting terrorism.
Khatibzadeh called for Iran's solidarity with the objectives of the Cuban government and nation in resisting the global arrogance.
The claim that Cuba has cooperated with Venezuela on terrorism, like other unfounded claims by the US, derives from its heinous habit of making baseless accusations against other states, he underlined.
The officials of Trump's regime, who over the past four years have become a source of tension and have only destroyed international achievements and create hatred, have not even learned from their defeat in their recent elections and reiterated the nature of their trouble-seeking approach in the recent incident of their country's Congress, continue to obsess and take unilateral steps in the final days of their term, he underscored.
It is significant to remind the US terrorist regime that Cuba, as an active member of the United Nations and a leader in countering global imperialism and arrogance in line with its national sovereignty, is thoroughly free to establish relations with its neighbors in the Latin America region or elsewhere, and to promote its levels of cooperation, he further noted.
No country, particularly the US regime, has the right to meddle in Cuba's internal affairs or to boss around on its policies regarding the establishment of the relations, he pointed out.
Iran dismissed the move taken by the US terrorist regime because of its double-standard policy concerning terrorist operations in the assassination of Martyr Soleimani, as well as the support and direction of operations by the ISIS and other terrorist groups, he stated.
Iran urges supporting and deepening the mutual ties with Cuba, he further noted.
