Iran, South Africa stress expansion of defense cooperation
Tehran, Iranian and South African officials on Sunday underlined promotion of their cooperation in field of defense.
Iran attaches importance to relations with the African countries, in particular South Africa, Director of the Iranian Defense Ministry's International Affairs Department Mohammad Ahadi said.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the South African National Defense Force (SANDF) MapisaNqakula.
Ahadi noted that Iranians have always paid respect to Nelson Mandela's antiapartheid movement.
The Iranian official also lauded South Africa's stance against unilateralism, in particular the US bullying, and said that South Africa has proven the fact that it will not get affected by the global arrogance's propaganda against Iran.
He referred to the US measure to enlist Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity, and said that Washington's measure was a move in support of terrorists.
The Iranian commander called for long standing and strategic cooperation with South Africa.
In the meantime, South African defense minister, for his part, called for improvement of allout ties with Iran, in particular in the defense sector.
