Iran stresses boosting ties with Afghanistan
Tehran, Iranian minister of industries, mining and trade on Saturday called for improvement of trade exchanges with the neighboring Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade will support the Iranian companies which are active in the fields of export to Afghanistan, Reza Rahmani said.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Tehran's Ambassador to Kabul, Mohammad Reza Bahrami.
The minister referred to the cultural and historical ties between Iran and Afghanistan, and said that the two Iranian and Afghan nations have always enjoyed close and friendly relations.
Increase of exports to the neighboring countries is on the agenda of the industry ministry and Afghanistan is a top priority for Iran, he added.
In the meantime, the Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan, for his part, said that the Afghan and Iranian traders are keen to improve trade exchanges between the two countries.
Afghanistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industries had announced earlier that Iran has been Afghanistan's biggest trade partner in the last christian year (March 201718) and exported goods worth over $1.98 billion to the neighboring country.
"Now Iran is our biggest (trade) partner, ACCI deputy chief, Khan Jan Alokozay, told the Kabul based TOLOnews.
