Iran successfully fires new systems in air defense drills
Tehran, IRNA – New domestically-developed systems were successfully fired in Modafe'an-e Aseman-e Velayat (Defenders of Skies under Guardianship of Supreme Jurisprudence) military drills in central deserts of Iran on Tuesday.
The maneuvers, jointly held by the air defense of the Iranian Army, the IRGC’s aerospace force and the Army Air Force, kicked off earlier today.
Mersad-16 System of the air defense of the Iranian Army and Tabas system of IRGC’s aerospace force hit medium-range targets in the drills, according to the commander of the country’s air defense headquarters.
Brigadier-General Qader Rahimzadeh said that the new systems were developed by Iranian experts in the Army, IRGC and the defense industries.
Also speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the drills, Army Commander Major General Abrolrahim Mousavi said that the air defense of the Iranian Army, the IRGC’s aerospace force and above all Khatam al-Anbia air defense base are fully prepared to defend the country in the face of any threat.
