Iran, Tajikistan ink over 25 cooperation documents in a year

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Minister of Energy Ali-Akbar Mehrabian said on Tuesday that Iran and Tajikistan have signed 25 cooperation documents in a joint economic cooperation commission over the past year.

Mehrabian, who chairs the Iran-Tajikistan Joint Commission committee on the Iranian side, made the remarks after the commission convened for the 15th time in the Iranian capital earlier today.

He said that in today’s commission meeting, the two countries reached different agreements in various areas including free trade zones, high education and cultural heritage, health, food, transportation, agriculture, communications and technology, oil and oil products, energy, water and environment.

The minister referred to Iran’s experience in constructing Sang toodeh power plant in Tajikistan and said that the power plant is now operating in full capacity, providing electricity to Tajikistan and other surrounding countries.

He said that the volume of trade between Iran and Tajikistan has tripled and is expected to continue with its growing trend.
