Iran to appear powerful in 2020 Olympics: Minister
Tehran, Iran's Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs said on Tuesday that the ministry will pave the way for Iranian sports caravan to powerfully participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Masoud Soltanifar made the remarks in a meeting with the heads of sports federations, saying, 'The Iranian outfit deserved better results in Jakarta Asian Games, but the decision of the Olympic Council of Asia to include the medals of the host's indigenous sport in medals table as well as some misjudgments put down at least four of our gold medals.'
Soltanifar said the serial meetings to evaluate Iran's performance in 2018 Asian Games are expected to start from next week.
'The performance and the results obtained by each sport will be reviewed in separate meetings,' he said.
'Iran can be an Olympics medal contender in fencing, archery, and canoeing,' he added.
The Iranian minister also referred to the insufficiency of offering sheer financial supports and said that finding talents and developing them in addition to accurate planning and management is essential for success.
