Iran tops Asia wrestling
Jakarta, The Iranian national team of Greco-Roman wrestling became the champion of 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, with two gold and two bronze medals.
The Greco-Roman competitions took place on August 21 and 22 (Tuesday and Wednesday).
Mohjammad-Ali Gerayee and Hossein Norouzi received the gold medals of 77 and 87 kg weight classes; while Mehrad Mardani and Mohammad-Reza Gerayee won the bronze medals in 60 and 67 kg weight classes.
Two other Iranian wrestlers also won the fifth place at the competitions and that made the Iranian team champion of the games while its rivals from South Korea stood at the second place with two gold and two bronze medals and no more ranking in other weights.
Iran had already become the champions of free-style wrestling as well.
The 2018 Asian Games kicked off on August 18 and will wrap up on September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.
The Iranian outfit at the 2018 Asian Games comprises 280 sportsmen and 98 sportswomen who will compete in 42 sports fields.
Over 11,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries attended the competition.
The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the 18th Asian Games and also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018, is a pan-Asian multi-sport event underway in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.
