Iran U16 chess player selected as world olympiad’s best player
Tehran, Iranian under16 chess player was selected as the best player of World Youth Under16 Chess Olympiad 2018 held in Konya, Turkey.
During the closing ceremony on Sunday, Alireza Firouzjah was announced as the best player of the tournament with seven wins and two ties.
With the scored gathered during this event, he raised his rating in World Chess Federation (French acronym: FIDE) to 2736.
Uzbekistan won the title of the World Youth Under16 Chess Olympiad 2018, followed by India and China, and Iran sits in the fifth place.
Firouzjah is currently the world's best under16 chess player, according to FIDE.
The young genius made a name for himself when he defeated Iran's renowned chess Grandmaster Ehsan GhaemMaghami on 2016, when he was just 13. He was the member of Iran's golden chess team, the doublewinner of under16 Olympiads.
