Iran-Uzbekistan historical commonalties secure both nations’ interests: MP

Tehran, IRNA – Head of Iran-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group said that Tehran-Tashkent relations are growing, adding that the two countries’ historical and cultural commonalties, and close relations secure both nations’ interests.

Uzbekistan Ambassador in Tehran Abdullaev Bakhodir Barotovich in his meeting with Head of Iran-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group Gholamreza Nouri Qezelje reviewed ways for securing the two nations interests.

Nouri Qezelje in the meeting referred to the increasing level of Tehran-Tashkent relations, arguing that broadening the two countries’ comprehensive cooperation, especially in the economic field, is of special importance.

The head of Iran-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group said that appropriate moves, such as lifting visa requirement, increasing flights, removal of the existing obstacles in the way of transportations and joint investments have already been made, which need to be further accelerated and strengthened.

Uzbekistan Ambassador in Tehran Abdullaev Bakhodir Barotovich, for his part, agreed with the Iranian side on the great importance of Uzbekistan-Iran relations, and said that it is necessary to expand the level of bilateral political, cultural and especially economic ties, such as tourism.

He said that he knows the Islamic Republic of Iran has a good record of parliamentary interactions with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), emphasizing that the improvement of political and parliamentary relations plays a decisive role in improvement of comprehensive bilateral cooperation.

Abdullaev Bakhodir Barotovich reiterated that Uzbekistan welcomes exchanging parliamentary delegations with Iran aimed at achieving mutual interests and sharing experiences.
