Iran welcomes friendly match with Azeri soccer team
Tehran, Iranian Minister of Sport and Youth Masoud Soltanifar said on Sunday that Iran welcomes a friendly football match with the Republic of Azerbaijan which has been offered by Azeri Ambassador to Tehran Bonyad Huseynov.
Iranian football federation is to follow up holding the friendly play between the two sides' national football teams, Soltanifar said.
Azeri ambassador to Tehran conferred on Sunday with the Iranian minister of sport and youth on the expansion of sporting cooperation between the two countries.
There is no doubt that cultural and religious commonalities between Iran and Azerbaijan help bolster relations and cooperation between the two countries, Soltanifar said.
Existing calmness in both countries will leave positive impacts on the stability and security of the region, he said.
Iran follows up setting of a friendly play with Azeri national soccer team, Soltanifar added.
Azeri ambassador, for his part, referred to political, cultural, economic and social commonalities between the two countries and said exchange of visits between the two sides' presidents bring the two nations much closer in various fields.
The ambassador also conveyed the greetings of Azeri sport minister to Soltanifar, and said Azerbaijan will remain committed to all MoU's already signed between the two countries.
