Iranian actor, directors awarded at Sweden filmfest

Tehran, One Iranian actor and two directors from the country received awards at the 18th annual Iranian Film Festival in Sweden.

'Are you Volleyball?' directed by Mohammed Bakhshi received best short film award.

'Blockage' by Mohsen Gharae won the award for the best film.

Also Iranian actor, Pejman Bazeghi, the first ambassador of Yari (a Persian equivalent for 'support') was awarded for his valuable services.

'Yari' film festival is the oldest Iranian film festival abroad and the largest Iranian film festival in Europe.

Founded by the Iranian residents of Uppsala in 1998, Yari is a non-profit, independent, democratic and non-political association offering economic and social support to underprivileged children and teenagers living in Iran.

Each year, the festival spends ticket sales revenues on supporting Iranian orphans.

The 18th Yari Film Festival was held in Stockholm, Sweden on September 22-23.
