Iranian ambassador, UK FM due to meet in London
London, Iran's ambassador to London Hamid Baeedinejad and UK Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt are due to meet in London on Monday, according to a diplomatic official.
Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency correspondent, the official said that the meeting will be held at 13:00 hours local time.
The official failed to provide further details on the agenda of the meeting.
UK media had previously said that the Iranian ambassador was to be summoned to the British Foreign Office for explanations about the case of Nazanin Zaghari who has been convicted and sentenced to five years in prison by an Iranian court for security offences.
Zaghari, a project manager with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, was arrested in April 2016.
Zaghari was due to start a hunger strike as of today (Jan 14), Zaghari's husband Richard Ratcliffe was quoted by British media as saying last week.
He has claimed that his wife has no access to treatment facilities at prison.
Tulip Siddiq, the representative of Hampstead and Kilburn in the House of Commons had urged the UK Foreign Office to summon the Iranian ambassador about the case of Zaghari.
