Iranian doc to compete at Leipzig fest

Tehran, 'Sentenced to Death', directed by Ahmad Jalili Jahromi, will compete at the 61st International Festival for Documentary and Animated Films in Leipzig, Germany.

The documentary was previously selected at the Independent Ceremony on Iranian Documentary Cinema and the 11th Cinema Verite Film Festival.

The documentary tells the story of some women who are in jail and have been sentenced to death. They learn about theater and art changing their lives.

The 61st International Festival for Documentary and Animated Films will be held in Leipzig, Germany, from October 29 to November 4.

Werner Herzog's latest documentary called Meeting Gorbachev will be the opening film in the festival.
