Iranian firm commercializes nanocatalyst for big petrochemical plant

Tehran, An Iranian knowledgebased company has commercialized a domesticallyproduced nanocatalyst that converts the harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted from coaland gasfired power plants to nitrogen and water vapor.

Nano Pars Spadana started the industrial production of this nanocatalyst a year ago and has now delivered five tons of the nanocatalyst to Karun Petrochemical Company, according to Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council (INIC).

There is a huge internal market for this product and after the internal demand is met, we can think about exporting it, said Mahsa Vakili, head of the company's Research and Development (R and D) Department.

She criticized some Iranian companies for preferring the Chinese equivalent of this product although the knowledgebased company possesses the production process from procurement of the raw materials, technical knowhow and final production.
