Iranian fishermen detained by Saudi Arabia released

Bushehr, Three Iranian fishermen, who had been detained by Saudi coast guards for illegally crossing border, have been released, an official said.

The boat of the three fishermen from Bushehr Province had crossed the Saudi territorial waters last year due to sea waves, said Ardeshir Yarahmadi, head of public relations department of Fishery Office in the Iranian southern province.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Tuesday, he said, according to the related law, those who are arrested this way, should stay a while in the destination country.

The Iranian fishermen having spent their sentence period in Saudi Arabia, have been set free as the result of a series of contacts between the two countries' officials.
