Iranian Hajj pilgrims to fly back home as of Aug. 27

Tehran, The Iranians who have travelled to Saudi Arabia for annual Hajj pilgrimage will fly back to Iran as of Aug. 27, an official tasked with handling Hajj operation in Iran Airports Company said on Saturday.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency's economic correspondent, Mahmoud Razavi said that the return of the Iranian pilgrims will continue until Sept. 15.

The first flight of the Iranian pilgrims is scheduled on Aug. 27 from Medina, Saudi Arabia to Bushehr in southern Iran, Razavi said.

On the very first day, nine flights will return Iranian pilgrims from Medina to Iranian airports in Bushehr, Zanjan, Ahvaz, Mashad and Tehran, the official added.

Iranian pilgrims will fly back home from Saudi Arabia to 19 Iranian airports, Razavi said, adding that the officials of these airports are ready to render proper services to the pilgrims and the population who come to the airports to welcome them.

Some 85,000 Iranians attended the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia this year. A sum of 315 flights by Iran Air and Saudi Airlines transferred the Iranian Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
