Iranian minister of labor removed by MPs
Tehran, Iran's Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei was removed from the cabinet of President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday.
The minister was impeached upon the requests of 40 Iranian lawmakers.
At the end of the impeachment proceedings at Iran's Parliament, the lawmakers cast 129 votes to dismiss him. They were dissatisfied with the minister's performance in his post. At the voting session, also 113 votes were cast in favor of the minister with three MPs abstaining from voting.
This was the third impeachment of the minister in the past 11 months.
Rabiei was appointed to head the ministry since the first term of President Hassan Rouhani in August 2013.
