Iranian sailor invited to US World Cup

Mahabad, Iranian sailor Ahmad Ahmadi has been invited to attend Miami World Cup, Head of Mahabad sports and youths organization Gharani Mostafapour announced.

The World Cups are held with the attendance of the best sailors in ten classes, he said.

Ahmadi has been invited by World Sailing (formerly ISAF) to participate in Finn category, he added.

The Finn dinghy is the men's single-handed, cat-rigged Olympic class for sailing. It was designed by Swedish canoe designer, Rickard Sarby, in 1949 for the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki.

The event is slated to be held with the attendance of 40 athletes on January 27-February 9 in Miami, US.

Sailing as a sport involves a variety of competitive sailing formats that are sanctioned through various sailing federations and yacht clubs. Racing disciplines include matches within a fleet of sailing craft, between a pair thereof or among teams.
